2011-10-30 - Happy To Report - Life At 40 Is Coming Together Nicely.

So I haven't written a blog in a while. and I just turned 40 a few months ago. Where have I been? Focusing with my wife on making real things happen rather than writing about it.

New Home Base For Life

My wife using her iPhone and a real estate app found us the perfect house, a 6 bed room 3 full/2 half bath home with a large lot and pool at an unbelieveable price literally built on a lot of sweat equity from the previous owners. In a bad economy, there's also bright side. We were able to secure an interest rate at 1.25% lower than our previous loan. It was also what we consider a mix of God's grace, elbow grease, and saavy wotk and trust built over time with our real estate agent who became our neighbor when we bought our 1st home in her neighborhood/street 10 years earlier. There was a lot of iPad numbers spreadsheet analysis based on the Zillow premium price we'd receive on our house and the income coming in at the time.

The extra room is paying dividends. Each of us has a place to hide and work on things. Thanks to DrupalGardens.com, Melissa and I are able to take our web community work for causes we care about to another level.  We're building on top of work we did with 4 years computer science interns from the University of Santo Tomas. A preview of our latest site which benefits street kids in the Philippines will launch soon and can be seen here (I'll replace this in the blog with a portfolio of our latest launched work). Even our kids are getting in the act. Under our eldest Alyssa's leadership, the girls have spent the summer in love with music. Thanks to Music Training Center's open mic sessions, Alyssa's taken over Melissa's Youtube channel. Our younger daughters Maya and Amy have even gotten in the game. These videos by the way were taken and edited and posted to Youtube exclusively through an iPhone with iMovie.

New Job

Through some soul searching and a serendipitous opportunity, I've signed on to work for a 3rd energy company. I've spent good time in other subject matters like banking, e-commerce, medical informatics, and defense but my passions have been most inspired by working in the energy markets. Again, I think part of it is God's grace. My sister and her best friend Michelle will tell you I used to have left handed, right brained sayings as a kid like you need to go around life "Generating The Energy". Perhaps it was a sign of things to come.

These top paragraph rambilings are meant to describe the motivation. Below will be the basis for a more structured white paper that I am hoping others will help me write and otherwise materialize into real things. I'm inspired too my Steve Job's passing to flesh out an idea over this blog.

Focus On Energy, Fix The Economy.

Why and How We Should Base Our Economy, Our Banking Systems On The Energy Market

  • It has substance. Initially, it's similar to the markets based on gold and charging more interest than you pay out. However, it begins moving from a purely money extracting game to a market derivative on improvements of th energy grid.
  • China would buy the ideas if we flesh them out and show that they work when implemented to scale.
  • It's an opportunity for America to lead the way as we always have. It's an example where we can all participate, writing ideas on how to make it better, measuring the energy usage of our homes to prove out various theories, all the time watching the economy move back into a leadership position.
