2005-04-18 One Option for Me

I am on my 3rd year with the company I'm with. I've been at enough places that failed to know that if things don't start improving, a company this size will not be able to sustain it's growth. I've never been anywhere more than 5 years. I think that's a good thing. I'm considering that I should have built up enough side projects and experience in the next 2 years (I've been at this company for 3 years) to go off and do something that could still sustain myself and my family. The logical choice is a software company. I see many leverage posibilities in training talent in the Philippines. We may hire a consultant, old co-worker from a previous company, who had done it in India. I'll need to pump him for information on how he did it. Conshohocken is growing fast. My house will be worth double in 2 years if this area keeps growing like it has been. It's crazy. I need to have a plan if it falls into place to parlay that money into an exit strategy for where I am now and where I want to be.

I've bought a book on Service Oriented Architecture. It's not hard to see myself finishing Nostalgia and building it up as a web service that people might pay to use. I see I have about 2 years to get it to that point. I've got to keep working at it if I am to make it happen.
