2005-08-24 We Have an Elevator Pitch

Cognitive Metaphors is an information system builder dedicated to helping small businesses gain control, expand, and franchise their operation.

I've fallen into 2 or 3 projects helping others on this front. I will rally my website content and a business plan around this hopefully narrow enough and niche enough mission. Don't want to get too technical and confuse. This is a position I believe I can defend well and get excited enough about to write and document how it would work. It's a position I think I can start out with without quitting my day job. Quitting the day job would then be based on how successful this idea becomes.

Website content overhaul and a few complete, mature sample projects in the portfolio need to be flaunted. In the meantime, I will put on another hat and work out the business plan, maybe see a SCORE exec for advise after my up front documentation is done.

I will now work at an accelerated clip finding opportunities to do pet projects for people with small businesses, code pilot projects in PHP, RUBY, JAVA, MYSQL, and then write about them. I will write case studies for the website, refine business plans after each small project, and then cycle back and do it all over again. Everytime, getting better at things. Won't quit til the business process is well defined enough, automated enough, people supported enough, to sustain itself.
