2006-07-20 Preaching, Passion, More Personal Attention

One of my favorite 'true' movies is Jerry Maguire. I vaguely think of my whitepaper (1st cut releasing next week) in the same way as Jerry's "The Things We Know And Do Not Say." In the story, Jerry embarks on a quest to leave corporate America to build a business based on more passion, more personal attention, fewer clients. Conventional logic and strong forces are against him on that. He eventually succeeds after some struggles with near poverty, depression, insanity.

The momentum is coming my way though I know the pendulum can swing both ways. I've got money in the bank. Although, I could have made $1K more if I sold my options a day later. Funny how simple decisions significantly affect wealth. Anyway, I've got some breathing room and am feverishly hitting my head against the Ruby wall so I can express my ideas in a working application.

Who would have thought that when I gave up on my promising job that was returning good money that the energy and brain power that came back to me would help me to earn more money than before.

Other opportunities are on the horizon. Just need to take on small tasks at a time and build on them. Tonight, I'm fixing my Ruby app to be able to upload files to a directory. Next, I plan to download some graphing tools for Ruby on Rails to build charts and graphs and sparklines.

When I have some substance, than I can stand on my soap box and really preach. I can let my passion show and build and build my way to fame and hopefully forturne or at least enough the raise my girls with all the educational advantages.

So basically, I've pooled up the money I earned by selling my soul to corporate America. I'm now taking everything I felt was wrong and trying to use my passion and experiece to turn things around and start the new world order. Or at least join that the new world order that is coming whether I like it or not.
