My 2 year old daughter has grown very attached to a cloth soft baby doll. She sleeps with it and looks for it when it's not with her. Over the weekend, we brought her to the mall. She fell asleep and dropped it somewhere without us noticing it. When we realized it was gone, we went back to the mall and timeboxed a search and rescue for 10 minutes... no luck.

When we got home, we contemplated how to get her to attach to a different doll... something mainstream like her Backyardigans Pablo doll. This way, if it got lost, we could easily find a replacement. It turns out that my wife remembered the tag on the doll was from a company called Eden. She did a search for Eden baby doll and found an Epinions.com link that pointed to the exact doll. People had similar comments about how their little one would not sleep with any other doll. It was comforting to know what we weren't overly emphasizing the importance of the doll. It was also good to know we could replace the doll fairly easily for less than $20.

Another reason why I am staking my career on trying to make a living off the Net.
