My nice new blog is more refined. I still wanted a place to just type out random ideas and thoughts.

I was looking for a notebook that I keep to write out my latest idea for helping my daughters school.

This idea came to me this morning because I recently joined the Knights of Columbus (a Catholic fraternal organization) and my wife was asked to join The Home and School Association. The Home and School Association of Conshohocken Catholic School is asked each year to raise $20K to subsidize Catholic education in Conshohocken. The Knights of Columbus of Conshohocken meet once a month and help out various groups including Conshohocken Catholic School. They own a house in Conshy where we meet. I looked at what kind of opportunities could I help facilitate that could make an impact.

My idea is that the two groups have resources: volunteers, storage space, and nearby postal facilities. There are also at least 100 families who have their children in the school. The idea would be to put an EBay shop in the school. Items donated by families or items families wanted us to sell would be photographed and put on Ebay. They would be shipped via the post office if bought. Proceeds would go to the school. Alternatively, families could have us post the item and give us a service fee. We'd have a local online store that carried the same items if anyone locally wanted to buy them. It's a fund raising mechanism that can go throughout the whole year and can be throttled based on the number of volunteers and storage available. It's an idea that can also be marketed at Mass.

I am currently training my nephew in the art of building a career in web development from the Philippines. I've paid him for the summer to concentrate with my guidance on learning about programming but more importantly, how to make money on the internet using your skills. He might be a good candidate to provide some of the programming help I would need to make the idea stand.
