ANTHONY SPRINT 1 COMMENTS - FOREIGNTRAINEDDENTISTS

At this time, I'd like each of you to report back to me with answers to these three questions. I was supposed to do this earlier in the week. Next week, I'll plan to ask for this on Tues, Thurs, and Saturday - please posit it on the wiki.

  • What have you done since last scrum (last time we talked)?
  • What will you do between now and the next scrum (next time we talk - Sunday night)?
  • What got in the way of doing work?

Observations

Cristina - Assignment: RDF on the site  - 1 Twitter comment. Do you understand what needs to be done? If not, you should be communicating so I can help you. Have you though about what sorts of things would go into the RDF data set for foreigntraineddentists.org? Please write more on the wiki so I can see the planning you are doing. Here'a a video link that might help - http://dc2009.drupalcon.org/session/practical-semantic-web-and-why-you-should-care

Sheila - Assignment: Friends of Friends - 7 twitter comments -I am glad you followed the advice on other types of relationships. I'd like you to start thinking about how we are going to introduce this new feature to the ftdentist users. Did you try creating some users and interrelating them? What sort of testing can you do. I like how you joined the related drupal group. I think the others should do the same.

Marc - Assignment: View Charts of Users - 6 twitter comments - Thanks for taking on the extra lockandkeyid.com assignment. It's something that will save Tony Euganeo 15/week starting next month. It sounds like things are a bit stuck. I'd like you to get the view group by count of users report working. Here's the video of the session I attended on this feature - http://dc2009.drupalcon.org/session/business-analytics-drupal-views. It might give you a better idea on how to approach it.

Brian - Assignment: Extended Profiles - 0 comments - You should be working with Sheila. I believe the relationships and extended profiles features should be closely related. I need to see some activity. I don't believe it can all come together without planning and discussion. The book on social networking will help.

Martin - welcome back - I will be paying close attention to twitter statuses so please be vigilant about this - I'm giving you a big task this week because frankly, I'd like to see what you can do. Here's a link to the Drupal for Facebook session I attended - http://dc2009.drupalcon.org/session/developing-facebook-applications-drupal. From you, I'd like you to have a good handle on how the module works and a plan for how to implement it next week. At least two of the team will join you. Take a look at the product backlog notes I wrote about foreigntraineddentists and also the presentation on foreigntraineddentists.org.

What I'm looking for going forward is this, I'd like to feel comfortable that you will be meeting the expectations of the 1 week sprint by Thursday night. If not, I'd like to know why - is the problem more complicated, what is the plan, how long will it take? It's ok if you can't finish in a week as long as I know it was not for lack of trying. If all goes well by Thursday - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday should be about smoothing out the rough edges and moving from the test site to the production site. I'd like some of you to report on twitter more. You're not giving me enough visibility and confidence that you are making progress.

I should see some write up or demo that demonstrates that you understand how the new feature is going to work on the live site. You should be role playing and understanding in the case of this example, how foreign trained dentists would use the site. I've written a bunch of stuff on what I want the site to be. I'm counting on you all to get me where I need to be. Each week, I'm hoping to see improvement of doing work over time rather than leaving things all to the last days of the week.

The next speaker will be Michael Angeles - Sunday May 9th 9pm Philippine Time. You can learn a bit about Michael at his website - http://urlgreyhot.com/personal/ - Kudos if you recognize the Jean Luc Picard Star Trek reference in his url name. Michael and I went to high school together (all boys catholic). We were not really friends but I got to know him recently connecting via Facebook. You'll need to have a conversational, interactive, question asking throughout meeting with him.

I look forward to seeing how all the new features will be received once the users see them. You'll need to help me make these all work together.
