2009-01-10 - Cognitive Metaphors 1995

A friend of mine found my old Cognitive Metaphors site from 1995. Just 2 years out of college and I had quite a few grand visions. Ariel, my friend, and I even wrote a grant proposal to NASA for math/science education. It's affirming to see that I still follow those ideas I had back then. In the past two years, I designed, developed, and implemented a Coal Profit/Loss logistics system at NRG. I just got through with training 20+ people on the various parts of it. Right now, I'm doing screen casts of the training. I still follow these 6 step below. They've served me well.

Process
  1. Understand the organization culture and the scope of the problem
  2. Provide a road map for effective information technology and concrete models of success
  3. Draw upon a diverse network of talented people to implement the CMSG vision
  4. Combine existing technologies and exercise proven methodologies to produce a well thought out solution
  5. Train the audience in effective uses of CMSG built information systems for solving the challenges of today and tomorrow
  6. Enlighten the audience with visions of future information system solutions that will scale up as their organization grows

On a side note, I still think these trends below will continue to grow. While I still need to work for a corporation to feed my family, I think there is still a place, a second life where I can follow the trends below. My focus on www.foreigntraineddentists.org and www.joyandcaregivingfoundation.org are the vehicles for that right now.

Governing Trends
  • Information Activism
  • The Rise of the Virtual Corporation
  • The Knowledge Based Economy
